Real Jiu-Jitsu, Taught at Your Pace
Adult BJJ at 805 Combat Sports is gi and no-gi Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu for ages 13 and up. We are an official Carlos Machado academy, so what you learn here traces straight back through the Machado family to Carlos Gracie. No watered-down curriculum, no shortcuts.
The room is drama-free on purpose. Beginners roll with people who protect them, technique is broken down so it actually makes sense, and nobody is trying to prove a point on a first-timer. Train smart, stay humble: that is the whole culture, not just a slogan on the wall.

Leverage Beats Size
BJJ is built so technique and position decide outcomes, not who is bigger. That is why it holds up as self-defense and why it never stops being interesting to train.
Gi and No-Gi, Both Covered
Train in the gi for grip-based control and slow it down, or go no-gi for a faster, sweatier game. Most members do both. The schedule has room for either.
A Room Without Ego
The fastest way to get hurt in BJJ is a partner trying to win every roll. That is not the culture here. Smart, controlled training is how people stay on the mat for years.

Common questions about Adult Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in Simi Valley, CA.
Can I start BJJ with zero experience?
Yes. Most of our adults walked in with no background at all. Beginners are welcome in every class and instructors meet you exactly where you are. The first few weeks are about getting comfortable, not keeping up.
What is the difference between gi and no-gi?
Gi training uses the jacket and pants for grips and control and tends to be slower and more technical. No-gi is faster and relies on body positioning instead of grips. We teach both, and you can train whichever fits you. Most members do a mix.
Is BJJ safe to train regularly?
BJJ has one of the lowest injury rates in martial arts. There are no strikes to the face and no knockouts. Live rolling is introduced progressively once your technique is solid, and our no-ego culture keeps training controlled.
What does it cost after the free week?
BJJ membership is $200/mo, or $250/mo for both BJJ and Muay Thai. Military, law enforcement, first responders, security, and healthcare workers train for $150/mo. We will walk you through the options after your free week. No pressure during the trial.
How often should I train?
Two to three classes a week is the sweet spot for real progress. With classes running up to six days a week, including early mornings and evenings, most schedules can fit it.
