What Youth BJJ delivers.
Self-Defense That Actually Works
BJJ teaches kids to control distance, escape worse spots, and end a problem without throwing a punch. It is the most studied grappling art for exactly that reason.
One of the Lowest Injury Rates
No strikes to the face, no knockouts, and live rolling introduced only after technique is solid. Most kids train for years with nothing worse than the occasional bump.
A Tight, Respectful Crew
BJJ only works with partners who look out for each other. The youth room is one of the most respectful, welcoming groups in the building.
Built around how kids actually develop.
Every kids program keys in on the four stages of childhood development: Physical, Intellectual, Emotional, and Social. We call it PIES. It is how we structure classes, design drills, and build the relationships that turn a shy four-year-old into a confident kid who walks into school with a quiet sense of who they are.
-
P Physical
Coordination, strength, control of the body.
-
I Intellectual
Focus, problem-solving, learning how to learn.
-
E Emotional
Confidence, self-regulation, handling setbacks.
-
S Social
Respect, teamwork, friendship across ages.

This is gym is so good! The coaches here are very patient and understanding with the kids. It is so hard to find a place that takes the time to educate and train my son, we're so glad we found this gym! 100% recommend!

I started here with zero experience in BJJ. Coaches were patient and I never felt out of place. All the members are super nice and take it super easy on beginners. The goal is always to learn and get better. I have found myself loving BJJ and really excited to keep training here.

Place is great, coaches strive to work with everybody individually and always teach us lots while still letting us have time to roll. Good schedule for classes and tidy mats as well!

Common questions about Youth BJJ in Simi Valley, CA.
What is Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, in one sentence?
It is a grappling art that uses leverage and position so a smaller person can control a bigger one without striking.
Is it safe for kids?
BJJ has one of the lowest injury rates of any martial art. No strikes to the face, no knockouts, and live rolling is introduced progressively after technique is solid.
Will it help with bullying?
Yes, but not by teaching kids to fight. BJJ builds the calm confidence that makes a kid a less likely target, plus the real ability to control a situation safely if it ever comes to that.
Does my child need a gi on day one?
No. Athletic clothes are fine for the trial class. If you continue, we will fit your child with a gi and tell you exactly what to buy.
