Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Muay Thai for kids ages 4 to 12 at an official Carlos Machado academy. Train smart, stay humble. The change parents notice first happens off the mat.
Kids who can handle themselves on the mat carry that quiet confidence into the classroom and the playground. It shows in how they stand and how they handle hard things.
We are an official Carlos Machado academy. Your child learns the real thing, taught by coaches who earned their rank.
No tough-guy culture, no kids getting smashed to prove a point. Beginners are protected and effort is what gets recognized.
Clear expectations and consistent feedback every class. The discipline kids build on the mat shows up at the dinner table.
Families from across Simi Valley, Moorpark, and Thousand Oaks bring their kids to 805 every week. See drive times from your neighborhood.

Body control, confidence, and ground-game self-defense. Real grappling in a tight, respectful room.

Striking, pad work, and conditioning for kids 6 and up. A fun, structured outlet that builds coordination and discipline.
LEARN MOREBrazilian Jiu-Jitsu gives a kid the one thing that defuses most bullying before it starts: calm, grounded confidence. A child who knows they can control a situation does not need to prove anything, and bullies tend to look for an easier target.
And if it ever does come to it, BJJ teaches kids to control and de-escalate without striking. The skill is real. The confidence is what changes how they walk into a room.
Brown Belt · 10 Years Training
Coach Chase leads the kids and youth BJJ programs. Ten years on the mat and a knack for keeping ages 4 to 12 engaged, listening, and learning real technique without losing the fun of it.
Kids BJJ is control and leverage: no strikes to the head. Live rolling is introduced slowly and only when a child is ready.
Kids train within their age and size group. Nothing is introduced before a child can handle it safely.
Coach Chase and the team specialize in ages 4 to 12: patient, structured, and good at keeping class fun while it stays safe.
Watch any class from the side, any time. No appointment needed.
The members who recommend 805 loudest are the ones who have been here longest: parents of kids in the youth program and adults who walked in with zero experience and stayed for the community.

Kids can start Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu with us at age 4 in our Kids BJJ program (ages 4 to 6). From there they move into Youth BJJ for ages 7 to 12. We also run Muay Thai for kids 6 and up.
No child is required to spar. BJJ is grappling, not striking, and live rolling is introduced progressively only when a coach sees a kid has the control to do it safely. Everything is supervised and age-matched.
Very. BJJ has one of the lowest injury rates of any martial art: no strikes to the face, no knockouts. Add our no-ego culture and close coaching, and most kids train for years with nothing worse than the occasional bump.
The structure, physical outlet, predictable routine, and immediate feedback of BJJ tend to help kids who struggle to sit still elsewhere. Coaches keep expectations clear and the wins small and frequent.
Ages 4 to 6 start in Kids BJJ. Ages 7 to 12 start in Youth BJJ. Kids 6 and up can also train Muay Thai. Many kids end up doing both grappling and striking as they grow with the academy.
Kids BJJ (4-6) runs 30 minutes. Youth BJJ (7-12) runs 45 minutes. Classes run several days a week, so two or three sessions is easy to fit.
For the free week, just comfortable athletic clothes and a water bottle. Training is barefoot on the mat. You do not need a gi to start; if you continue, we will fit your child for one.
Kids earn belt stripes and promotions as their technique develops, and most parents notice the change in focus and confidence at home before they see it on the mat.
It is one full week of classes, free. Click any trial button on this page to pick a start date, call or text (805) 263-1553, or just walk in during open hours.
